    via seating has a full-time new product development team consisting of engineers, designers and market experts. This team is continuously working on research, development and improvement of products. At via seating, we don’t believe in leaving great products behind or holding back on progress. via seating’s design team improves upon the ergonomics, the design and the use of existing product lines and the development of new, cutting-edge seating solutions.

    3D printer technology

    via seating’s design team utilizes 3D printer technology to sculpt and test custom parts. First, the team shapes a part such as a new arm width adjustment bracket in a 3D modeling software. This is then printed by the 3D printer, which builds the part to spec in modeling plastic. Finally, the true-to-size protype is tested for look, feel and functionality in its application. This results in thorough parts shaped exactly to function seamlessly with the final chair design and deliver a great seating experience.

    7-layer ply for structural support

    via seating sources the best quality components for all of its chairs.  All via seating task/work chairs have a minimum of 7 layers of ply in its wood supporting framework to ensure structural integrity.  The heavy-duty (HD) series utilize a minimum of 9 layers of ply.

    No formaldehyde is added to the ply structure.

    metal t-nuts for extensive modularity

    via seating task/work, conference and executive chairs use metal T-nut connectors engineered into the plywood seat platforms. These allows a wide range of arm styles, controls & options to be mounted to each series. The via seating T-nuts ensure there is a metal-to-metal connection for all components.  There aren’t ever screws that directly screw into the wood structure. This protects the chair and allows many components to be interchangeable long after the chair has been in service. This reduces the cost of ownership of all via seating products i.e. it extends the usability/life of the chair.

    Options on many via seating chairs can be easily replaced once the chair is in use. The T-nut structure allows via seating to switch out applicable arm styles, add seat slides and add arm width adjustable brackets. It allows for fully modular, flexible & easy-to-customize chairs – maintainable long-term after the chair has been installed.  via seating’s modular solutions provide optimal support in lasting standards programs, which seek to update to evolving work environments.

    via seating offers a average of three seat sizes for each of its task/work chair series. Series such as Brisbane HD 24/7 and Genie™ offer six (6) seat sizes ranging from petite to extra-large. Each seat size delivers a perfect fit, often including a plastic trim component beneath that provides a very clean & appealing aesthetic. via seating series accommodate a variety of individuals of different weights and heights, all sitting within the same framework of a chair series. This perfectly balances the need for design consistency with all required ergonomic considerations.

    strategically crafted, injection-molded foam

    via seating foam is sculpted to provide body balance technology built directly in the cushioning of the seat and back. It is injected into an engineered mold at controlled, differing rates, which creates strategic, multi-density levels within each cushion. This process builds a subtle seat contour that maximizes support exactly where it is needed—where body weight is most concentrated. The outer edges by contrast, are made softer and in a waterfall slope so that the seat does not restrict circulation where the legs extend out over the edge of the seat.

    closed-cell cold-cured foam technology

    Closed-Cell refers to the fact that the foam has a smooth outer skin that is kind to fabric. It does not rasp on the upholstery from the inside. The foam does not absorb moisture. It protects the foam over-time and does not break down. The comfort of via seating foam has the same comfort 12 years later.

    Cold-Cured refers to the consistency in size of the air cells within the foam. The foam is one single, contoured and resilient piece of foam. It is not layered foam.

    expertly tested and durable foam

    via seating uses a resistance factor test and measurement of density to assess the durability and quality of its foam.

    Density/volume weight gives an indication of the foam’s ability to resist weight and not “bottom out”. Good foam must provide resistance in direct proportion to the amount of pressure applied. This unit of measurement does not necessarily translate into hardness but rather the feeling of support you receive when you sit on the foam.

    via seating foam has an average density or volume of 3 pounds per cubic foot (48 kg/m3). Standard flat foam, by comparison, has a single volume weight between 1.9-2.25 pounds per cubic foot (30 to 40 kg/m3). The greater density of via seating foam makes it best-suited for office ergonomic seating.

    a highly-skilled, hand-sewn chair

    via seating chairs are hand-sewn by highly-skilled sewers with a strong emphasis on attention to detail. The sewing team offers an apprenticeship program for those new to sewing and a tiered program for those of intermediate-level skills to higher. Only advanced-level sewers are approved to work on projects requiring the most extensive detail work. Quality checks and approval is signed off before a chair can advance onto the next stage in its build out.

    Each chair run through a visual inspection at each stage of its development. Parts received are manually inspected by the supply chain and engineering teams who test these parts for consistency, visual quality and durability. Components arranged into kits are inspected for any wear by the kitters. During the build process, parts are inspected for consistency, durability and beauty at each stage. Finally, a visual inspection as part of via seating’s 100% quality inspection program is run and signed off for every single chair that leaves the via seating manufacturing facility.
