At Via Seating, we are dedicated to continuous improvement and learning as much as we can to ensure what we are doing is meeting the challenges we all face in a very dynamic, challenging market.  Via Learning Studio offers Continuing Education Courses (CEUs) that are pre-approved by the IDCEC, AIA, and GBCI for customers, designers, and industry professionals. BIFMA CEUs

Each accredited CEU course is unique and leverages BIFMA’s significant knowledge base. Courses will demonstrate the positive contribution of furniture products on the built environment specifically in areas of safety, performance, sustainability, and wellness. Each is accredited for 1.0-hour education unit by: AIA (HSW), IDCEC (HSW) and GBCI for maintaining LEEP AP, WELL AP. These CEUs are also approved toward the CoreNet Global QPCR Designation.

CEU 3: LEVEL 2019: Sustainability Certification and Its Role in The Selection of Furniture

This continuing education course covers BIFMA’s e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard, which is the basis for LEVEL certification. The content defines what LEVEL measures, how it works, and how it goes above and beyond other rating systems for addressing furniture’s ecological, social, and wellness impacts. Participants will understand how to find LEVEL certified products and easily include them in the furniture selection process at no added cost to those who procure the product. You will understand how to use the public LEVEL product registry to compare products and how this tool streamlines the specifying and procurement process.

CEU 4: Demystifying Furniture’s Role in Sustainability

A mind-boggling number of environmental standards exist. This course clarifies the process by defining and comparing leading programs on the market and explaining the role of sustainable furniture within each. The course overlays the LEVEL rating system and explains its application and relevance to help demystify furniture’s role in sustainability. You will become conversant in LEVEL by BIFMA and its key role in defining sustainability for furniture. You will understand the scope and distinctions between building rating systems, transparency protocols, and product certifications. You will gain understanding of the future landscape for sustainability and furniture and the market drivers behind this.

CEU 5: Attributes of Contract Furniture

What drives furniture decisions in commercial environments? Key attributes are: Aesthetics, Quality, Craftsmanship, Safety, Performance, Health & Wellness, Sustainability, and Verification. These dimensions of commercial furniture are explored for their impact on decision-making so professionals can put safety, sustainability, and wellness at the forefront of the selection process. You will understand the value of original design and how materiality is a critical factor of product appropriateness. You will see how furniture contributes to the health, safety, and wellness of occupants and impacts planetary health. Finally, you will be conversant in the relevant certification schemes and how to correctly apply which verifications to each attribute of furniture.

CEU 6: Why Standards Matter

This course provides knowledge about BIFMA’s mission and work. The course explains Why Standards Matter to all involved with furniture procurement to ensure decisions are informed by safety, wellness, and  In this course, you’ll learn about the historical context that drove the need for developing industry-wide furniture performance standards and understand the impact of social, economic, and technological trends on the bottom line for business owners. You’ll identify how testing procedures simulate actual use over the life of the product and you will know how to access LEVEL and BIFMA Compliant as the tools to evaluate your furniture selections.

Nora, Via Seating’s CCO & Head of Sales, is also a certified ergonomist who is passionate about health and wellness in the workplace. Nora often says that she has never sold a chair in her liferather she has educated customers and provided them with the information they needed to make the best decision for themselves and their company. Through Via Learning Studio, Nora is able to share her passion for ergonomics and wellness topics and engage with participants in a different way. You will walk away from one of Nora’s presentations knowing what you can do in your own life to improve your productivity and mindfulness as it relates to your work time. She will also equip you to advise others on how to do the same.
