Ergonomics

Via Seating chairs are designed to be easily adjustable. Our video demonstration & written operation guides help drill down into the technical details behind the natural, ergonomic fit across our seating lines. Available for control mechanisms, stool control mechanisms, adjustable arms, adjustable lumbar support, adjustable headrests & more.

Adjustable Arms

Via Seating offers a broad range of arms that allow one to choose the best function, best fit, best value and best design for a broad range of applications. Height adjustability is a standard feature and recommended for all task applications. Being mindful to fully support a broad range of body types and sizes, consider other functions like height range of the arm, width between arms, rotating armrests, and armrest design itself. Think about the type of work being done and the individual required to do the work. Then think about what features are needed to ensure the appropriate range of adjustability and support to fit the individual(s). The goal is to support a broad range of ergonomic factors that can help reduce the risks associated with repetitive actions like keyboarding, excessive mouse use, etc.

Adjustable Headrests

Via Seating’s headrests or neck rests are ergonomic and customizable. Height and angle adjustments allow for multiple users to comfortably utilize the rest. Optimal positioning is achieved when the neck is able to relax and the weight of the head is supported by the rest during task work. This relieves pressure from the upper thorax and lower cervical region of the spine. The headrest can also be pushed back out of the way during downtime.

Adjustable Lumbar Supports

Explore Via Seating’s ergonomic, adjustable lumbar support options below. These adjustable lumbar supports provide various levels of adjustments aimed at optimizing support and promoting better posture throughout the day. Adjustable lumbar supports are available on task-work, conference, execu-task and management series. Many Via Seating chairs have neutral spine support engineered into the architecture of the back itself. The adjustable lumbar support options extend the range of this support to accommodate a variety of differently sized individuals.

Independently adjusted from the back

Independently adjusted from the back
  • Offers height adjustable lumbar as an option i.e. “vertical adjustment”.
  • These lumbar supports adjust independently from the back.
  • They allow the user to promote the natural, forward curve of their lower back.
  • This promotes an optimal sitting position and the opportunity to maintain this posture throughout the entire work day.
  • The goal of these lumbar supports is to support a broad range of ergonomic factors that can help reduce the risks associated with developing poor posture.
Integrated into ratchet back design

Integrated into ratchet back design
  • Offers height adjustable lumbar as a standard feature i.e. vertical adjustment.
  • This integrated ratchet back function, allows the user to vertically adjust the entire back support.
  • This changes the support afforded to the lower back, but also to the upper thoracic area and in the case of high back executive chairs; the cervical spine too.
  • This promotes an optimal sitting position and the opportunity to maintain this posture throughout the entire work day.
  • The goal of these lumbar supports is to support a broad range of ergonomic factors that can help reduce the risks associated with developing poor posture.
  • This additional option works in combination with the ratchet vertical adjustment as referenced above.  It provides more pressure into the lumbar zone, enhancing the natural, forward curve of the lower back.
