Dimensions for all Via Seating products are measured using the BIFMA Chair Measuring Device®(CMD), a patented device created by the Business and Industrial Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) to “ensure that chairs are measured uniformly whatever the country of manufacture, the laboratory performing the measurements, or the applicable standards” to which a product is developed or built. Via uses the BIFMA/CMD-1-2013 UNIVERSAL MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE®FOR THE USE OF BIFMA CHAIR MEASURING DEVICE®(CMD) when measuring products to record universally acceptable dimensions.
The dimensions recorded from the measurements taken using the BIFMA CMD and measurement procedures can be used to verify conformance to the BIFMA G1-2013 ERGONOMICS GUIDELINE FOR FURNITURE USED IN OFFICE WORK SPACES DESIGNED FOR COMPUTER USE and cannot be replicated using any measuring device (ie. tape measure or ruler) other than the BIFMA CMD.
Sometimes dimensions recorded using the BIFMA CMD don’t translate well to customer’s expectations, ie. the Reset armrest length is 1.5” as measured with the BIFMA tools. We are able to show alternate dimensions for any values like this that we feel don’t provide a realistic view of the product with a clear disclaimer that these alternate dimensions are for informational purposes only.Contact uswith questions.
